Southwest Regional Center Director/Consultant
Ray Ann Kilen is the Regional Director for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Dickinson. The Dickinson Center provides services for Region 8, which includes Adams, Billings, Bowman, Dunn, Golden Valley, Hettinger, Slope, and Stark Counties. As Regional Director, Ray Ann provides free and confidential counseling to small businesses including pre-venture (idea stage), start ups and existing businesses. Ray Ann provides assistance with business plans, marketing plans, financial plans (projected cash flows, budgets and financial statements). Using a case management approach for providing client supports, through discussion client needs are identified and typically a plan of action is developed to provide guidance to reach their goals.
SBDC also facilitates educational opportunities for small businesses to further their education on a variety of timely business topics.
Ray Ann's professional experience includes business management, business planning, marketing strategies, budgeting, customer relations, leadership development, grant writing, organizational effectiveness, personnel management, construction/project management and procurement technical assistance. Ray Ann is an experienced small business owner with prior business ventures as a sole proprietor with a commercial cleaning business, a limited liability corporate partner in a home building company, a limited liability partner in a home renovation company and currently owns and operates a small corporation providing environmental consulting and hazard rehabilitation services.
Ray Ann holds a Masters in Management from the University of Mary and a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing, Finance and Personnel Management from Dickinson State University.
The Southwest Regional center opened in 2004 and relocated to north campus in 2007. The SBDC is hosted by Dickinson State University and is a partner in the Strom Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.
