Convergence to the Law of One Price on the Internet

The Internet is an increasingly important source of information for consumers to learn the price and product offerings of sellers. With reduced search costs and more perfectly informed consumers, one might expect to find that firms operating on the internet charge the same price for a homogenous product. Price dispersion, while persistent on the Internet, is found in this paper to follow a process of convergence. Further, the speed of convergence, as measured by half lives, is found to be faster for products sold over the Internet when compared to previous studies that have examined traditional markets.
